About The Role

Responsible for ensuring an excellent experience for visitors to the facility by maintaining a clean and safe environment, along with high-quality ice surfaces, pools, and splash pads. Perform scheduled activities outlined on the facility activity schedule.

What You Will Be Doing
  1. Monitor the ice surface and facility for hazards, damage, vandalism, dangerous situations, and graffiti.
  2. Perform ice maintenance activities, including flooding, building, edging, shaving, removing, and installing the ice surface.
  3. Conduct general maintenance to the facility and equipment.
  4. Work towards B Ticket Certification by performing routine checks of refrigeration plants and documenting readings, once trained.
  5. Perform custodial maintenance, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning various areas inside and outside the facilities.
  6. Test pool water, record results, and adjust chemical levels to ensure health regulations are met. Vacuum pools and check for damage or vandalism.
  7. Prepare for special events and assist in event implementation.
  8. Operate equipment such as ice resurfacers, trucks, tractors, mowers, and other machinery.
  9. Provide duty of care to all users and staff, ensuring safety and security.
  10. Deliver excellent customer service, responding promptly to inquiries and complaints, and maintaining a professional appearance.
  11. Follow policies and procedures outlined in the operations manual and report any breaches.
  12. Perform other related duties as required.

About You: Qualifications
  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or willingness to obtain.
  • Propane Handling Certificate and WHMIS or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid emergency First Aid and CPR C, AED or willingness to obtain.
  • Class B Refrigeration Certification (asset).
  • Certified Ice Technician (CIT) (asset).
  • SIRO (Safe Ice Resurfacer Operations) (asset).
  • Experience in arena/pool environments (asset).
  • Experience in commercial cleaning and maintenance.
  • Facility oversight and security experience.
Skills
  • Knowledge of basic refrigeration systems.
  • Basic computer skills (asset).
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Other Requirements
  • Unrestricted Class G driver's license.
  • Availability for flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Good physical dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and PPE.
  • Completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
  • Commitment to safety culture.
