AVL TSI Canada, Inc. offers a job in Canada (CA) as an Application Engineer II.

AVL TSI Canada is part of AVL Test Systems, Inc., and has a great opportunity for an Application Engineer II to join a company reimagining mobility.

The Application Engineer II commissions test systems and integrates subsystems to meet complex testing requirements, focusing on testing & application development for the E-Drive system. This role also troubleshoots complex problems and develops solutions, with a focus on AVL’s electrification market, including battery testing/emulation, inverter, eMotor, and eAxle testing.

Qualified candidates must manage projects independently once on-site, working with a Project Manager to oversee cost and time estimates. Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of related experience in electrification, electronics, and software. The position involves direct communication with customers and ownership of large, complex test systems, requiring excellent customer service and communication skills.

Travel for this position will be approximately 30%.

Applicants must have unrestricted authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor work visas for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a liaison and company representative with customers.
• Commission test cells, including setting up and troubleshooting test and measurement systems, implementing and tuning control loops, integrating auxiliary equipment, setting up safety monitoring, creating commissioning documentation, providing training, and obtaining customer sign-off.
• Write and implement custom tests.
• Provide sales technical support.
• Support project engineering tasks.
• Develop and present training sessions.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications / Skills:

• 3-5+ years of related experience.
• Experience with test automation equipment preferred.
• Understanding of instrumentation and electrical processes.
• Experience with testing methods and applications.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings.
• Background in electrification (battery, eMotor, eAxle), testing, or power electronics.
• Strong software adaptation and modification skills preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of PC operations, MS Windows, and computer networking.
