Summary

Reporting to the Team Lead, Component Repair, the Shotpeen Operator is responsible for the restoration and repair of industrial gas turbine components using automated and manual shotpeen equipment.

Duties

The duties and requirements will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Operation of automated (CNC) and manual shotpeen equipment during peening operations.
  2. Comprehension of component routing documents, engineering drawings and specifications, OEM repair schemes, and internal process documentation.
  3. Preparation of components for shot peening, including cleaning, masking, and setting up components onto shotpeen equipment, in accordance with company procedures and utilizing various machines and techniques.
  4. Use of measuring equipment, including calipers, height gauges and micrometers.
  5. Perform pre-process intensity verification using Almen strips prior to shot peening of production components.
  6. Writing and revision of process programs utilizing a teach pendant and the integrated FANUC teach pendant programming language.
  7. Visual inspection of shot peened components to ensure compliance with company and OEM specifications.
  8. Completion of preventative and corrective maintenance on various equipment.
  9. Management of inventory in the Shotpeen department, including ordering of process consumables and replacement parts for equipment.
  10. Development of new fixturing, masking and tooling as necessary to improve/maintain efficiency and quality in the shotpeen process.
  11. Working closely with other departments to ensure the efficient and timely processing of components through the Component Repair department.
  12. Willingness to cross-train and gather new skills in support of the company’s changing needs, and to cross-train others.
  13. Providing assistance, when required, to internal and external auditors.
  14. Working closely with the HR and HSE departments to understand company policies and procedures, and ensure work is carried out accordingly. Leading by example and showing positive support for company policies by demonstrating an ongoing commitment to reinforce departmental acceptance. Making recommendations on policies and procedures and engaging in the continuous improvement drive to attain the best-in-class target and improve shop productivity and profit of the company in general. Increasing knowledge regarding the HSE Policy and Manual and maintaining a positive attitude towards the health and safety of self and coworkers.
  15. Taking ownership of HSE issues and demonstrating enthusiasm and support for HSE.
  16. Completion of other duties as directed by the Team Lead, Component Repair or designate.

Company Requirements:

  1. Previous experience operating an automatic (CNC) and manual shot peening machine.
  2. Experience masking parts for shot peening preparation.
  3. Ability to use measuring equipment including calipers, height gauges and micrometers.
  4. Ability to read blueprints is required.
  5. Shift rotation work is required (day, afternoon with occasional night shifts as required).
  6. Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  7. Successful completion of a post-offer medical and drug & alcohol test.
