The Child Life Assistant (CLA) is responsible for assisting the Child Life Specialist with inpatient planning, implementing, and evaluating activities and interactions in the playroom and at the bedside. The goal is to support development, meet emotional needs, and provide diversion. The CLA also promotes a family-centered care environment, observes responses of children and families, and reports observations to the Child Life Specialist.

The CLA serves as the point person for scheduling, organizing, and accepting donations to the Child Life Department. The CLA oversees the training and scheduling of Child Life volunteers, manages the playroom, and collaborates across disciplines within UPH. The role also includes administrative responsibilities for the Child Life and Family Centered Services team.
The Child Life Assistant supports the Child Life Specialist in inpatient activities to promote development and emotional well-being. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience in child development or education and holds an associate degree (preferred).
