The Director of Global Institutional Product Solutions is a leadership role reporting directly to the Head of Global Institutional Strategy. This hybrid position covers all aspects of Global Institutional Product, including product strategy, management, research, and portfolio solutions. The role collaborates across Scotia GAM and all underlying brands, boutiques, and investment capabilities (public listed/privates) to create a unified global institutional product footprint across Canada and global markets where Scotia operates.

This role involves institutional investment solutions/structures such as separate accounts, collective vehicles, LPs, mutual funds, ETFs, and offering memorandum structures. It works closely with the broader Scotia GAM Product Development and Innovation team within the established process framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead product strategy development: Collaborate with Retail, Wealth, Bank, and International channels to evaluate in-house investment management capabilities and potential acquisitions.
  2. Develop product roadmaps: Detail demand, design, pricing, and supporting elements, considering distribution frameworks and client needs.
  3. Cross-functional collaboration: Work with Investment Management, Distribution, Marketing, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Product Development & Innovation as a leader and contributor.
  4. Market research: Size markets, formulate pricing strategies, and analyze key competitors.
  5. Positioning and marketing: Develop strategies to enhance product sales and marketing performance, including training and marketing materials.
  6. Profitability and business case: Maximize margins, improve profitability, and develop business cases and approval documents.
  7. Database management: Maintain institutional product databases and manage vendor relationships.
  8. Project management: Demonstrate superior skills in managing product launches from ideation to market, including post-launch analysis.
  9. Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with Marketing/Distribution to develop presentations and present to clients and prospects.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. 10-15 years of financial services experience
  2. MBA or equivalent graduate degree
  3. CFA designation
  4. Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, project management tools; familiarity with Morningstar Direct, Preqin, eVestment, Bloomberg is helpful
Skills and Abilities:
  1. Proven success in investment product strategy, management, or development roles
  2. Strong analytical, collaboration, and leadership skills
  3. Deep understanding of financial markets and portfolio management
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  5. Decision-making, strategic influence, and leadership capabilities
  6. Effective presentation and marketing skills
