A leading educational institution in Cape Breton is seeking a High School Literacy Coach to enhance literacy instruction for grades 9-12. The successful candidate will collaborate with teachers and students, providing mentorship and modeling effective teaching strategies. TheCape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

The Literacy Coach will be responsible for working with classroom teachers and students in small groups. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the Nova Scotia curriculum and high-level literacy practices associated with strong classroom practice. Modeling these practices is an essential skill for this position. The candidate is expected to have strong communication skills. As we move forward with 21st-century learning, this position will be built around using student evidence to inform classroom planning. Experience scoring Provincial Assessments would be an asset.
