About the role :

As a Compass ELC Home Child Care Coordinator, you will work alongside some of the most passionate, caring, and dedicated Home Child Care Providers. Your role will involve engaging, connecting, and learning alongside providers, children, and families. You will support the recruiting process for new home child care providers, ensuring licensing standards are met and Compass ELC values are evident in all aspects of the Home Child Care program.

You will have a focus on Pedagogy and Culture within the Home Child Care team and will support a program with a deepening culture of reflective practice and growing pedagogy aligned with Compass ELC’s vision, values, pedagogical themes, cultural elements, strategic plan, and How Does Learning Happen.

Responsibilities include :

  • Building relationships and working collaboratively with co-workers, providers, community partners, children, and families to foster a supportive and inclusive culture.
  • Supporting providers and children by recognizing and accommodating everyone’s diverse needs.
  • Engaging in and supporting professional learning that promotes reflective practice and collaborative critical thinking.
  • Nurturing a culture of collaboration, research, and reflective practice to grow our community of learners and deepen our pedagogical approach.
  • Creating systems and structures for focused pedagogical time with providers.
  • Supporting providers in showcasing children’s learning and competencies.
  • Assisting providers in creating and maintaining aesthetically pleasing, rich indoor and outdoor learning environments that engage children’s curiosity and energy.
  • Supporting onboarding and setup of new Home Child Care Providers within the Durham team.

Skills and Qualifications :

Minimum of [Number] years experience working in a licensed childcare environment.

  • Passionate about early learning, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning.
  • Eager to grow as a collaborator, researcher, facilitator, and learner.
  • Natural inclination towards research and inquiry.
  • Deep understanding of How Does Learning Happen, relevant legislation, policies, procedures, Child Care Early Years Act, and licensing standards.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Training and documentation required by CELC and the Ministry of Education, including :
  • Clear and current Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification
  • Updated immunization records or valid medical exemption documentation.
