Position Overview
Functioning within a consultation model, the Neuropsychologist provides psychological services as a centralized resource to patients at Providence Care Hospital through collaboration with interprofessional teams, in alignment with our Collaborative Practice Model and our Approach to Care.
The ultimate goal is to help patients achieve their highest level of functional independence and to minimize disability during their hospital admission.
Education & Experience
- Doctoral level degree in Clinical Psychology from a CPA and/or APA accredited university program
- CPA and/or APA accredited internship/residency preferred
- Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario for practice in Clinical Neuropsychology with Adults
- Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario for practice in Clinical Neuropsychology with Senior (preferred)
- Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario for practice in Rehabilitation Psychology (preferred)
- Registration with the College of Psychologists for supervised practice may be considered
- Minimum 2 years related experience in neuropsychological assessment and treatment planning
- Experience in group psychotherapy is an asset
- Current or eligible for clinical supervisor/adjunct status at Queen’s University
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides patient and family-centered care
- Screens and prioritizes referrals
- Selects, administers/oversees, and interprets cognitive and psychological standardized testing on patients with various psychological, neurological, and medical conditions
- Formulates and communicates a differential diagnosis
- Documents assessment findings and provides treatment recommendations to the care team
- Plans, executes, monitors, and evaluates neuropsychological services, as carried out by the Psychometrist, under supervision
- Completes electronic clinical documentation according to organizational policies and College standards
- Prepares reports and updates for team meetings promptly
- Contributes to team-based care plans considering client needs and treatment recommendations
