Responsibilities

The Junior High Teacher will be responsible for teaching and supporting students within the SSRCE framework. The teacher will participate in individualized program planning with school staff and families to maximize learning experiences, adhering to the Inclusive Education Policy.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
  • Bachelor of Education - Secondary
Abilities & Competencies
  • Professional development in literacy education and mathematics
  • Experience teaching grades 5-9
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, electronic)
  • Ability to collaborate with school and inter-agency teams for early intervention, service coordination, and program planning
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations and applying culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Knowledge of developmental trauma and its impact on learning and social engagement
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized programs and strategies based on student needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and promote a respectful learning environment
  • Experience in training and professional development related to students with behavioral concerns
  • Strong communication skills with diverse cultural and racial groups
  • Ability to value diverse perspectives and accept constructive feedback
