Position Summary

As a Bookbinder in our Bindery Department, you will be responsible for setting up and operating industrial equipment to produce quality finished products. Working in a fast-paced, unionized environment, you will contribute to the development of secure documents crucial for border security, currency protection, and government revenue generation. Job Description

What You Will Do

A Bookbinder is responsible for setting up and operating industrial bindery equipment to produce quality finished productsand will perform the following :

  • Set-up and operate bookbinding equipment related to cutting, collating, folding, stitching, and stamping.
  • Adjust machinery to ensure efficient operation and quality finishing is maintained.
  • Review job orders to determine production time and quantities required.
  • Various other duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

Candidates must have one of the following :

  • A Bookbinder certification; or
  • Previously completed a Bookbinder apprenticeship; or
  • 4+ years of current and relevant experience working as a Bookbinder or Bindery Operator.

Technology

  • Current and relevant bindery experience on machines such as :

Cutter

  • Saddle Stitcher
  • Perfect Binder
  • Additional experience with the following would be beneficial :

Foil stamping

  • Electronic chip inlay
  • Laser cutting
  • Lamination
  • Excellent mechanical and mathematic skills

Soft Skills and Characteristics

  • Analytical skills
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)

Mandatory Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical activities associated with the position, such as standing, walking, bending, lifting / lowering up to 5kg
  • Ability to work all shift schedules including days, nights, evenings, and overtime as required

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance
