Job description

Join to apply for the Neighbourhood Operative Level 1 role at Manchester City Council .

Working Hours : 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Staff may be asked to work an additional 7 hours a week, 42 hours in the summer, and 28 hours in the winter.

Contract Type : 2 x Full-Time, Permanent.

Interview Method : In Person (Face to Face).

This role requires :

• 2 References (preferably 3 years' employment history).
• Proof of Manchester Residency (for roles at Grade 1 to 3, traineeships, or apprenticeships, initially only advertised to Manchester residents and internal candidates).

Summary of Responsibilities :

• Work in a busy Grounds Maintenance Team across Manchester's Parks and green spaces.
• Operate ride-on and walk-behind mowers, hedge and shrub trimming with hand and power tools, and manage litter and bins within parks.

Experience in Grounds Maintenance is useful but not essential; training will be provided. Key qualities include being hardworking, willing to learn, flexible, and a good team player. Physical fitness is necessary due to the nature of tasks.
