Course Description: In a fast-moving business world, User Experience (UX) leadership and influence are essential skills for UX professionals. UX leaders advocate for user-centered design practices, infuse this into organizational culture, and drive business success through user needs and design mandates. They collaborate with stakeholders including users, product owners, managers, engineers, and specialists across disciplines to establish best UX practices, design operations, and agile methodologies, ensuring effective end-to-end user experiences.
This course introduces key UX leadership skills, offers opportunities for development, and raises awareness of exemplary UX leadership expectations. It employs studio-based learning and strategy discussions. Students will examine and demonstrate UX leadership through lectures, individual assignments, and a major group design project. The course emphasizes communicating UX value to executives, recognizing business challenges as UX opportunities, and applying UX best practices like design thinking, user research, and agile development, alongside personal skills such as empathy, storytelling, and persuasion.
Note: Salary rates may vary according to the collective agreement, which takes precedence.
Candidates should have a completed or nearly completed PhD in a related field or a Master’s degree with extensive professional experience. Teaching experience is preferred.
