Health PEI was established in July 2010, aiming to create a One Island Health System that provides Islanders with the right care, by the right provider, in the right place. Headquartered in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Health PEI is the single health authority responsible for delivering publicly-funded health services across the province. It operates hospitals, health centres, extended care homes, addiction facilities, and primary care sites, among other facilities, offering a wide range of programs and services. The agency is governed by the Health PEI Board of Directors, which is accountable to the Minister of Health and Wellness, working collectively to ensure the management and delivery of safe, quality healthcare.
The healthcare system on PEI offers excellent services, including family doctors and specialists. Its smaller size allows for timely, community-centered care where individuals are valued. Recently, Health PEI has focused on expanding community care and adopting innovative healthcare solutions to improve service quality and efficiency. The organization aims to continue enhancing patient access and resource optimization to meet the growing needs of the population.
