The Director, Marketing (HIV / AIDS) will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the HIV / AIDS strategic business plan, supporting the tactical execution, and overall promotion and positioning for the HIV franchise, which includes both HIV Treatment and HIV Prevention. This role involves leading the development of the HIV / AIDS lifecycle plan and supporting the launch of new products and indications in the category. The director will demonstrate strong leadership skills, including setting a vision, leading change, driving results, and managing both direct reports and cross-functional therapeutic teams. This position reports to the Senior Director, Marketing / Sales, HIV / AIDS.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibit excellent management skills to lead a cross-functional therapeutic team and senior marketing professionals. Proven in performance management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, recruitment, meeting management, and plan execution.
- Utilize multiple sources of information (e.g., primary and secondary market research, advisory boards, competitive intelligence) to uncover insights relevant to franchise strategy and tactical plans.
- Contribute to the formation of franchise strategy for HIV / AIDS, as well as the overall Brand Plan and Promotional Plan for Action (POA).
- Lead the development of tactical plans, messaging, communication strategies, and other customer initiatives aligned with the field sales POA.
- Oversee the execution of the field sales POA, including development of sales tools, coordination with sales training, execution of sales meetings, and driving results.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, being a highly competent presenter, capable of gaining credibility, building trust, and influencing all levels. Possess strong partnering skills, a bias for action, and focus on tangible results.
- Show organizational skills, including the ability to follow assignments through to completion, with a bias towards execution.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills to lead, interact, focus, resolve conflicts, and drive consensus among individuals from diverse cultures and disciplines.
- Maintain a strong executive presence, commanding respect through sound business judgment and clear decision-making.
- Demonstrate excellence in project management and managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Perform complex budget management with an understanding of revenue forecasting.
- Develop external relationships that lead to brand advocacy.
- Have a track record of successful pharma/biotech patient/community marketing, with an understanding of expense budget planning and tracking.
- Translate brand objectives into e-tactical plans, demonstrating knowledge of digital media and e-marketing strategies.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- 10+ years of experience in relevant fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related fields required.
- Advanced experience with product lifecycle management preferred.
- An advanced science degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) or an MBA is desirable.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical product lifecycle management across various therapeutic areas are preferred.
- Prior people management experience is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in product marketing or advertising focused on consumers or patients is required.
- An MBA or equivalent degree is preferred.
- Strong understanding of e-marketing and digital media.
