Job description

Title: Project Manager
Location: Hazelton, British Columbia
Contract Term: March/April to December, 2025
Monthly Pay: $10,000

Seed the North is an architect-led ecological restoration company located on a beautiful 160 acre property above the Skeena River, with dramatic views of Stekyoden Peak. Construction of our seed orchard and campus began in 2020. In 2025 we are building two cabins: one small off-grid cabin and one large cabin that is connected to the grid. We need a project manager to execute the construction of these two buildings.

Our team of architects, carpenters and local contractors, supplies and fabricators are ready to support you. Services have been brought to the two sites. We will provide a complete set of construction drawings, and procurement of long-lead items is already in progress. You will bring the project team together, working with us to hire the remaining contractors, fine tune the deployment of the solar and energy systems, execute the construction and finishing of the two cabins, and bring the project to a graceful close before the new year. You are essential to our success.

The project manager (PM) is a deeply respected role on site who reports to and is a strong advocate for the founder/principal. Supported by the design team, the PM interprets architectural drawings and makes key decisions about how on-site craftspeople can and should execute them. The PM works full-time on site, providing their strong knowledge of construction practices, building systems, cost estimating, procurement and logistics, toward completing the cabin's construction.

While it may be possible to commute from Smithers or Terrace, establishing a residence in Hazelton is preferred and we will support you in this endeavor. The ideal candidate will enjoy living and working in a rural and remote environment, and may like to engage in the adjacent world-class fishing, hunting, hiking, paddling, mountain biking and skiing.
