The University of New Brunswick seeks a Chair in Digital Agriculture, a full-time tenure-track position focused on integrating digital technologies into agricultural systems. This role involves leading impactful research, mentoring students, and collaborating with industry to enhance farm productivity and sustainability.
The Chair in Digital Agriculture is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, based at UNB's Fredericton campus. Structured as a five-year renewable appointment, the Chair will be responsible for leading a high-impact research agenda focused on integrating digital technologies into agricultural systems.
The Chair's primary research will explore the application of advanced computational technologies-such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, artificial intelligence, and data analytics-to improve and simulate crop development, resource use, and climate adaptability. Through this work, the Chair will generate new insights and tools that support sustainable agriculture, optimize decision-making, and enhance farm productivity.
Key Responsibilities :
Conducting and publishing original, peer-reviewed research in digital agriculture and crop modelling Developing and leading interdisciplinary research projects with academic and industry collaborators Supervising and mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral researchers
Building partnerships with industry, government, and community organizations Pursuing research funding through grants and strategic partnerships
Supporting knowledge mobilization, policy development, and commercialization efforts
To complement the Chair's academic and research focus, UNB is also creating an Innovation Director role. This individual will provide support in industry engagement and applied research translation, ensuring that the Chair's work is relevant, accessible, and responsive to sector needs.
