Job Description
Reporting to the Agriculture Manager, the successful incumbent will be a results-driven, self-starter who is always looking for opportunities for improvement, and can adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture or Technical Diploma in Agriculture.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience is beneficial.
- Exposure to a food operating plant environment is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams.
- A proven track record of being proactive and taking initiative.
- CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) or Professional Agrologist certification; or demonstrated eligibility for certification.
- Ability to stand/walk in potato fields and storages.
- Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach.
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50lb/34kg.
Responsibilities
- Join a team of raw product professionals dedicated to providing the best possible raw material to our Lethbridge potato processing facility.
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with grower suppliers.
- Visit grower fields and storages as necessary to drive company crop knowledge.
- Work closely with the Agriculture Manager and Raw Product Supervisor to assess grower quality, potato requirements, and organize deliveries.
- Participate in learning opportunities to enhance potato extension skills and provide the best advice to contract growers.
- Provide timely data on potato quality to Cavendish Farms Management, proficient with data management systems.
- Collaborate with Production staff to meet their needs while maintaining potato quality.
- Report food safety and quality issues promptly.
- Assist in supervising the raw receiving and potato grading staff, including 6-hourly activities.
- Adhere to Cavendish Farms' values and uphold health, safety, and food safety responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
