About the role:

Samsara is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to play a leading role in our Identity and Access Management (IAM) team. The team's goal is to secure our cloud, mobile and embedded software and infrastructure through a secure development lifecycle, including threat models, security architecture and reviews, continuous integration & deployment, and pentesting.

You’ll be a thought leader on a team that maintains the identity and access management features of our platform, the security and compliance of our infrastructure and our secure software development lifecycle.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in Canada.

In this role, you will:

• Lead organization-wide projects and develop tools that improve the security and compliance posture of our platform.
• Deliver impact by solving the hardest security and compliance problems.
• Identify and guide prioritization of opportunities for improvement to our security tools and processes.
• Increase visibility and knowledge of security best practices.
• Act as a multiplier for the team, elevating the impact and output of every team member.
• Influence the vision and roadmap for security and compliance.
• Represent Samsara in external-facing forums.
• Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep subject matter expertise in authentication and authorization in multi-tenant platforms.
• 12+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to ship production-quality software in a dynamic environment.
• Expertise working with web services at massive scale deployed on Cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.
• Is an expert in writing high quality, performant and maintainable code in a modern programming language.
• Know your way around a UNIX shell and a Linux operating system.

An ideal candidate also has:

• Has 15+ years of relevant industry experience in software development.
• Has experience working with processes that scale well for a team of 500+ engineers.
• Has experience influencing a company’s product and infrastructure security strategy.
• Enjoys leading and mentoring engineers.
• Enjoys enabling cross-functional collaboration.
