The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Certification of Qualification as a journeyperson in a trade recognized by the Province of Nova Scotia(click here)
  • Valid Nova Scotia Teaching License.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of recent occupational experience in that trade.
  • Demonstrated abilities to work with people.
  • Experience in teaching adolescent students or equivalent experience as a trainer in business or industry.
  • Presentation, interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Has experience teaching trades-related Technology Education courses at the high school level (e.g. Construction Technology 10; Construction Technology 12; Production Technology 11; Production Technology 12; Construction Technology 12).
  • Has industry/trades experience related to the Grade 11 sector course(s) in the posting. (Construction sector experience for Construction Trades 11; Motive power sector experience for Transportation Trades 11; Manufacturing sector experience for Manufacturing Trades 11; Service sector experience for Culinary Trades 11.)
  • Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism.
  • Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities:

• Delivery of instruction to students enrolled in the Skilled Trades suite of courses;

• Delivery of instruction to students enrolled in the CO-OPsuite of courses;

• Evaluate students performance, mentor and guide students, and maintain currency within your occupational field;

• Must be willing to upgrade professional educational skills as necessary;

• Other related duties as assigned.
