The aerospace industry is among the fastest-growing industries worldwide. In 2024, the market size was estimated at 373.6 billion USD and is projected to double by 2034.
At Queen’s Aerospace Design Team (QADT), we are dedicated to pushing boundaries with the development of high-performance & autonomous UAVs for national and international competitions in Canada, Europe, and the United States. With recent growth in aerospace applications, QADT has expanded significantly, now comprising over 150 undergraduate students.
Last year, our technical team developed two new UAVs for the AEAC 2025 student competition in Medicine Hat, Alberta: a fully carbon fiber fixed-wing aircraft with a two-axis gimbal for wildfire mapping, and a heavy-lift quadcopter for autonomous water drop firefighting. Concurrently, our research team authored two papers for submission to the IMAV conference and the VFS student design competition, focusing on DBD plasma actuators for airflow reattachment and hydrogen fuel cell aircraft design for extended loitering time.
This year, we aim to expand our capabilities further, preparing for the AEAC 2026 and the AIAA Design, Build, Fly competition in Wichita, KS, while continuing to publish innovative research.
QADT offers a unique environment for students across disciplines to gain technical experience in Aeromechanics, Electrical, and Software fields, conduct research, and develop business and management skills. We seek motivated individuals to help develop cutting-edge drone technology and push the boundaries of student team achievements.
We look forward to your application.
‘Aviation is proof that given the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.’
— Eddie Rickenbacker, WWI flying ace
Moving forward, QADT is focusing on improving team operations and business processes, particularly increasing sponsorship income and outreach. The Business Operations Division includes Sponsorship, Marketing, and Finance subdivisions.
As part of the Executive team, the Marketing Manager will lead the creation of high-quality marketing materials, manage a multi-platform media content calendar, oversee promotional posters, and handle QADT’s presence on the ILC video wall. The manager will lead the Marketing Sub-team and collaborate closely with the Director of Business Operations.
