Job description

The Senior Compliance Specialist - Audit and Training (SCS-AT), is responsible for the audit of Compliance obligations against established business processes. Based on the strategic direction from the Manager, Trade Compliance (TCM), the SCS-AT is also responsible for the creation, development, implementation, delivery, and maintenance of educational materials based on contractual and regulatory obligations, and audit findings on behalf of the Compliance Team.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education preferred.
  • ISO certification(s) considered an asset.
  • 7+ years of experience in Shipbuilding, Defense Projects, Trade Compliance, Human Resources, Legal, Document Control, or Procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience with trade compliance, auditing, process creation/development, creation of training materials, document control, formatting and contracting.
  • Experience with developing and coordinating auditing plans.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite; emphasis with MS Word, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess contractual and regulatory needs and lead development of Trade Compliance solutions. Analytical skills to determine gaps against business practices and processes.
  • Oral and written communication skills to provide information to all stakeholders, through briefings, presentations, management plans, processes, and policies.
  • Organizational, project management and time-management skills to manage multiple and concurrent projects, deliverables, priorities, and deadlines, and to carry out both technical and administrative responsibilities of special projects and to attain concurrence with internal stakeholders and government clients.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to communicate with internal and external stakeholders, from an obligation perspective. Foster relationships with the internal and external customer, to ensure audit findings and educational material are communicated and delivered to applicable business stakeholders.
  • Lead and support internal audits and audit lites on behalf of Compliance, to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Supervise coordination of, action required, and reporting of nonconformities and corrective actions on behalf of the Compliance function, provide support to the Compliance Teams as required for timely actions and closure.
  • Responsible to create, develop, execute, and maintain a department auditing plan, to ensure business processes are compliant with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Act as a BMM Super User on behalf of the Trade Compliance team, to support auditing activities.
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Compliance Specialist – Integration (SCS-I), to ensure training is created in relation to process gaps, to better educate the business on its Compliance obligations and requirements.
  • Lead colleagues to create, develop, and deliver training material to the entire business, pertaining to regulatory obligations and contractual requirements. Ensure up-to-date training material is delivered to the business on regular intervals. Responsible to create, implement, develop and maintain appropriate record keeping for the above activity, through formal repositories and trackers.
  • Lead colleagues by communicating the assignment of audit and training related work for the department. Monitor work by reporting key contractual metrics and KPIs, establish emergent risks, review and identify areas for continuous improvement. Provide regular metric reports to the TCM for presentation to senior leadership.
  • Generates metrics and KPIs for auditing and training activities on behalf of the Compliance function. Design, create and deliver a formalized metrics/KPI dashboard. Prepares reporting and presentations to deliver to senior leadership.
