Qualifications

Job description

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be part of the Technical Services Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct daily inspections of general conditions for pit and waste dump slopes.
  2. Generate technical reports as required.
  3. Develop and update SOPs related to ground control.
  4. Inspect and approve wall compliance and slope designs.
  5. Prepare weekly ground control plans, monthly hazard maps, risk analyses, and mitigation strategies.
  6. Collect and compile geotechnical data through mapping, photogrammetry, core logging, and visual observations.
  7. Perform wall and bench reconciliation and assess blast performance for wall control.
  8. Plan and manage ground support and geotechnical hazard remediation projects.
  9. Review and interpret monitoring data; assist in developing monitoring systems on-site.
  10. Assist in developing and updating geotechnical models.
  11. Conduct geotechnical investigations and inspections.
  12. Ensure field activities adhere to ground control plans.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering or Mining Engineering with specialization in geotechnical engineering and/or rock mechanics.
  2. Eligible for registration as an EIT or Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  3. Mapping and core logging experience is an asset.
  4. Familiarity with geological, mine planning, and Rocscience software is considered an asset.
  5. Experience in wall control blast and open pit ground control is an asset.
  6. Experience working at remote mine sites is an asset.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Work Schedule:
  • 14/14 schedule at Detour Lake Mine.
  • On-site accommodations and meals are provided at no cost.
  • Transportation to and from the mine is provided, with coverage for other travel expenses based on residence in Canada.
