The Professional Practice Leader functions as a consultant and resource to clinical staff and program leadership regarding professional practice, promoting person-centered care within an interprofessional environment. They support the application, implementation, and maintenance of professional standards, and lead in professional development, quality improvement, and research activities. The role involves liaising with educational institutions, professional associations, and regulatory bodies to promote excellence in practice. The incumbent acts as a strong leader and role model, contributing to Providence Care's Mission, Vision, and Values by exemplifying these values and facilitating communication and knowledge translation across the organization.


Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or an equivalent combination of relevant clinical practice experience and education
  • Five (5) years of recent related experience including professional practice, education, research, and leadership
  • Active, unrestricted license with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Experience with interprofessional processes and person-centered, recovery-oriented care
  • Familiarity with professional standards and applicable legislation, including the Regulated Health Professions Act, Mental Health Act, Public Hospitals Act, and profession-specific acts
Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Stay current with, inform, and support clinical staff and leadership regarding Speech-Language Pathologists standards of practice
  • Promote high standards of professional practice and competencies
  • Align internal practice with external professional evolution
  • Establish, implement, and evaluate policies and practices aligned with professional standards, legislation, and hospital policies
  • Monitor legislation, regulations, and trends, facilitating dissemination and discussion among colleagues and leadership
  • Communicate changes in standards and competencies in collaboration with relevant leaders
  • Provide support and leadership in implementing changes in professional standards across programs
