Position Overview:
The Aircraft Fueler will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient fueling/defueling of aircraft while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
- Uphold and follow duties related to operating and maintaining fueling vehicles, tank farm, and other associated equipment according to procedures for both airlines and Inland;
- Ensure the correct loading and balancing of fuel;
- Operate equipment within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft, and other airfield equipment safely and efficiently;
- Escort non-security badge holding personnel in accordance with airport escorting procedures;
- Assist in fuel farm and dispatching operations when required;
Please note: Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable Transport Canada Security Clearance and additional authorizations (Restricted Area Identity Card and Airside Vehicle Operators Permit).
Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Successful completion of all classroom and on-the-job training;
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
- Read, write, speak, and communicate effectively;
- Interpret documents including safety rules, operating, and procedure manuals;
- Mathematical competence with ability to: add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s, and interpret units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent;
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;
- General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools;
- Work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude;
- Comfortable operating large vehicles during inclement weather in constricted areas;
- Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure within fixed time constraints;
- A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
- The Aircraft Fueler will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level is usually loud. Occasional work outside normal hours may be required to meet operational needs.
Physical Demands:
- Candidate must be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;
- Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds regularly;
- Ability to climb 15-foot heights;
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, as well as bend, kneel, lift, climb, use hands to control tools, and reach;
- Work in confined spaces and outdoors for extended periods;
- Wear personal protective equipment when required;
- Clear speech and efficient hearing;
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment;
- Ability to move, connect/disconnect hoses, operate valves, and perform general labor duties.
