DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a County Social Services Aide 3, your primary responsibility will be to provide supportive and supplemental services to children in placement, their foster families, and their natural families. You will work closely with caseworkers and social workers in a teamwork relationship to increase the effectiveness of service delivery.

Safe and diligent driving skills are vital, as you will be providing transportation for clients to medical appointments, psychiatric or psychological appointments, family visits, school attendance when placed temporarily out of school districts, and assisting with other transportation needs of the office.

This professional will provide regular feedback to caseworkers, including observations of families, children, and foster families, and the effectiveness of the service plan. You will meet with families, caseworkers, and other agency team members to review and revise service plans to include goals, objectives, specific tasks, responsibilities, and time frames.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a County Social Services Aide 2
  • Graduation from high school or its equivalency, and three years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency, including one year of interviewing and obtaining information
  • An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences, and one year of experience in a human services agency
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation
  • This position falls under the Child Protective Services Law. A conditional offer of employment requires submission and approval of criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
