YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE
We are looking for a Sample Receiver - Trainee in 6660 Campobello Rd, Mississauga, ON L5N 2L9 CAN. Your mission will be to:
● Maintain clean laboratory by discarding waste and cleaning and sanitizing countertops, walls, floors, shelves, equipment, sinks, water baths etc using cleaning solvents.
● Maintain clean laboratory by properly storing chemicals, reagents and supplies. Maintain adequate stock of these materials.
● Prepare and use cleaning solutions according to specifications.
● Perform quality control checks such as temperature checks, balance verification or detergent residue testing as required by department leadership.
● Assist other laboratory personnel performing testing procedures as instructed by department leadership.
● Maintain equipment, supplies and instrumentation in working order to perform necessary preventative maintenance for operating departments.
● Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities.
● Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
● Ensure a safe working environment for laboratory.
● Participate in audits.
● Completes assigned tasks under supervision of department leadership, while working with team to accomplish department goals
● Perform opening and closing duties as assigned department leadership.
● Assist the login department by receiving and sorting samples, including verifying paperwork, descriptions and temperature of the samples.
● Maintain integrity of samples by properly storing at proper temperature (room temperature, refrigerated or frozen)
● Log samples received for analysis, assigning identification number and recording in Laboratory Information Management system, as directed by department leadership.
● Prepare "outsourced" samples for shipping and send out as needed.
● Prepare shipments of supplies and coolers being shipped/returned to customer upon request or per customer specific guidelines.
● Perform other related duties as needed.
YOUR PROFILE
This position requires the ability to follow specific instructions and attention to detail. This position requires the ability to work independently and as a member of a team to accomplish department goals.
Required skills: Collaboration, communication, customer excellence, safety focus, continuous learning, stress tolerance, managing work, quality orientation. This position may require data entry and computer work. Typing capabilities of 40+ wpm expected, as well as full competency of Microsoft Word, Excel, and use of Gmail.
Work Environment: Temperatures may vary, especially when cleaning incubators, and taking temperatures. At times, there may be strong odors caused by samples so a tolerance of odors is necessary. Standing is required for the majority of candidate’s shift. Employee will be required to lift up to 50 lbs when moving and cleaning equipment and materials. Employee will be required to scrub and wipe surfaces, and will be exposed to cleaning solvents. Employee
may be required to push carts weighing up to 150lbs.
Pay: $17.25 per hour
