Title: Engineering Manager

Location: St. Catharines

Description:

Our client is Canada's leading professional services firm, providing audit, tax, financial advisory services and consulting. They provide a full range of services to help companies integrate tax planning into business strategy and comply with foreign tax and regulatory rules.

The R&D team is a rapidly growing division that combines engineers, scientists, and tax professionals, in order to service clients in maximizing Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SRED) tax claims. As a team, they are responsible for:

  • Examining client operations and processes to determine which qualify for income tax incentives, the appropriate methodology to cost those activities and the methods to maximize those incentives.
  • Assessing R&D expenditures, time and activities involved within all of the projects.
  • Preparing all necessary documentation to file an R&D claim on behalf of the client.
  • Involvement with all discussions that may arise with the CRA and/or provincial authorities.

Responsibilities:

The R&D team is looking for an Engineering or Science professional who can:

  • Use your agricultural technical background to assist corporations with the preparation of the technical portion of their R&D tax credit claims.
  • Analyze various clients' operations to understand their current R&D activities and qualify them for R&D tax credits.
  • Plan, organize and execute the technical portion of engagements, including interviewing technical personnel and preparation of technical reports.
  • Work with a team of accountants and other professionals to deliver complete, accurate and timely services to our clients.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Southwestern Ontario R&D practice by identifying and developing opportunities to provide R&D services to potential new clients.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications:

  • Agricultural, Horticultural degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong client focus and orientation toward achievement.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Demonstrated marketing ability.
  • Willingness to travel in Southwestern Ontario.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  • At least 2 years of significant experience (this can be in an R&D tax capacity, agricultural or management consultant and/or agricultural manufacturing environment).
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Prior technical experience in the greenhouse industry is an asset.
