Job summary

Winnipeg School Division is seeking an Educational Assistant C to provide instructional and general support to students with disabilities and those in inclusive education programs. This 6.0 hour-per-day term position reports to the Principal and designated staff.

You will assist teachers, supervise students, help with assignments and progress notes, support IEP/BIP implementation, and help with health-related tasks as required while maintaining a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Complete secondary education or equivalent related work experience.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working with students with social, academic, and/or behavioural difficulties.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Educational Assistant Diploma or Certificate an asset.
• Valid Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certificate an asset (will provide training and/or re-certification)

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional assistance to individual or small groups of students experiencing difficulties; reinforces skills identified by the teacher/resource teacher.
• Assists with speech/language therapy as required; may implement IEP and BIP; assist with physiotherapy exercises and basic health tasks.
• Assists teachers by preparing materials, marking tests, observing and recording progress, and contacting Parents/Guardians as required.
• Supervises students during lunch, recess, and field activities; monitors and assists with safety and behaviour.
• Administers First Aid and medications as required; performs miscellaneous duties as needed.
• Performs other related duties within scope and classification as required.
