Job Description

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is hiring support staff for various roles across three categories, working with students with diverse educational needs. Below are the details of each category:

  1. CATEGORY 1: Mild to Moderate Needs
    • Communications (Elementary / Secondary) and Mild Intellectual Disability (Intermediate / Secondary)
    • Intensive Support Programs; CBRM (Home School and Resource) Programs; Secondary Resource
    • Working with students who have mild to moderate educational needs, including social, emotional, behavioral, and physical care needs.
  2. CATEGORY 2: Moderate to Severe Needs
    • Intensive Support - Moderate to Severe Needs
    • Special Needs Assistant
    • Individual Student Support Assistant

    Supporting students with multiple exceptionalities, autism, physical disabilities, and mild intellectual disabilities. The focus is on fostering independence and self-advocacy skills.

  3. CATEGORY 3: Severe to High-Risk Needs
    • Intensive Support – Severe to High-Risk Needs
    • Individual Student Support Assistant – Severe to High-Risk Needs
    • Intensive Support for Section 23 – High-Risk Needs

    Working in specialized classes with students having high-risk, complex needs, including developmental disabilities and limited ability to direct their own physical care.

Qualifications
  • Secondary School Diploma or Two-year Community College Diploma
  • 3 to 6 months of related experience working with children or adolescents
  • CPR and First Aid certification may be required for some positions
Additional Information

Pay Rates:

  • Supply rate starting at $22.34 per hour, with additional holiday (3.4%) and vacation (4%) pay
  • After 30 days, temporary rate starting at $29.79 per hour, with holiday (3.8%) and vacation (4%) pay

Effective September 1, 2024

Schedule: Up to 6 hours and 50 minutes per day, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm
