Job Requirements :

  • Valid First Aid / CPR Certification (please upload certificate or proof of registration in upcoming course to your resume)
  • Medium Lifting (up to 50 pounds)

Trained or Willing to be Trained :

  • Toileting

  • Use of Assistive Technology
  • Behaviour Management Support (Assist with implementation and tracking of behaviour targets, De-escalation strategies, Foster pro-social and conflict resolution skills, Implement calming strategies)

Assets :

  • A related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, including a formal practicum placement, will be considered an asset.

Educational Program Assistants are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 5047 (CUPE). The CUPE collective agreement can be accessed by clicking HERE.

Rate of Pay :

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar, including time off at Christmas, March Break, and Summer break.

The starting annual salary for a 100% position is $35,817.70, including 4% vacation pay. Rates are based on a five (5) step scale with step increases annually as per the Collective Agreement.

EPAs are paid biweekly, with the annual salary distributed across 12 months (August 1st to July 31st) for a 10-month school year. For positions less than a full school year, the salary is pro-rated accordingly.

Daily Hours of Work :

  • 50% Position : 3.5 hours (includes one 15-minute paid break)
  • 80% Position : 6.1 hours (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)
  • 100% Position : 7.5 hours (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)
