Job summary

SAIT’s Student Services department invites applications for an Educational Counsellor I. This 0.8 FTE, on-campus role supports student wellbeing with counselling, crisis intervention, and psychoeducational workshops.

The position reports to the Manager of Student Development and Counselling and focuses on facilitating student success and mental health. Qualified candidates hold a Master’s degree in Psychology or Clinical Social Work, with 2–3 years in crisis intervention and postsecondary

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Psychology or Clinical Social Work required.
  • 2-3 years in crisis intervention and counselling support experience.
  • Active registration as a Psychologist, provisional Psychologist in Alberta, or Clinical Social Worker with liability insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal counselling and crisis intervention to SAIT students.
  • Design and deliver psychoeducational workshops and outreach programs.
  • Consult with SAIT faculty and staff on student mental health issues.
  • Coordinate with schools and departments to enhance student well-being and success.
  • Provide assessments and referrals to SAIT and community resources.
  • Support campus wellness initiatives and professional development sessions.
  • Respond to campus critical incidents with debriefings and follow-up care.
