Job summary

Simcoe County District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant for the afternoons, a 0.5 FTE temporary part-time role with half-day assignments. There is no guarantee of duration for the assignment.

The Educational Assistant will support students to achieve success across academics, behavior, social, life skills and co-op contexts, working within a multidisciplinary team to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training is required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Required Qualifications For All Educational Assistant (EA) Positions

ALL positions require a relevant university degree, or a two-year college diploma in the human services field (Behavioural Sciences - related to ABA, Child and Youth Worker, Child Care Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Early Childhood Education, Educational Assistant – Special Needs Support, Human Services Administration, Registered Nurse, Sign Language Communicator, Sign Language Interpreter, Social Service Worker, or an Ontario Teaching Certificate). In addition, positions require Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Special Details For This Position

Required: BMS training is required. Knowledge of and experience working with behaviour management techniques, strategies and safety plans is considered an asset. EA may rotate through the school to meet the needs of students in a variety of grade levels.

THE ASSIGNMENT WILL BE HALF-DAYS
Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees, even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
