Horizon School Division is excited to invite applicants for a Part-Time Temporary Educational Assistant at Dr. Hamman Elementary School in Taber, Alberta. The role is approximately 15.5 hours per week, with hours Tue, Thu 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

and Fri 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. The position runs from Oct 2, 2026 to June 22, 2027, or until the incumbent returns. Experience with children in an educational setting is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Encourages students to develop and maintain positive interaction.
• Maintains confidentiality and a patient, supportive and enthusiastic commitment to students.
• Provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc., ensuring student dignity is maintained.
• Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, including close supervision and handling of challenging behaviours.
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.

Dr. Hamman Elementary School is located in Taber, Alberta. They have a staff of over 30, including teachers and support staff. The students are high achievers and strong leaders. They understand the value of being good citizens and working hard to make their school the best that it can be.

Assignment: Temporary Educational Assistant approximately 15.5 hours/week

Hours of work: Tuesday, Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

Dr. Hamman is seeking a Part-Time Temporary Educational Assistant to work in their Kindergarten program. Experience in working with children in an educational setting will be considered an asset.

This position commences on Oct. 2, 2026 and concludes June 22, 2027, or upon return of incumbent, whichever occurs first.

An EducationalAssistantin Horizon School Division:

• Encourages studentsto develop and maintainpositiveinteraction.
• Maintains confidentialityand a patient, supportive and enthusiasticcommitmentto students.
• As required, provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc. ensuringthat studentdignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting, positioning, and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
• Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, which includes maintaining close supervision of students, ensuring studentequipment is sanitized and put away, retrieving students who attemptto leave their learningenvironment, calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting studentswho utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e., scissors, cooking utensils, etc.).
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.
