Job summary

Grasslands Public Schools in Bassano, Alberta, is seeking a part-time Educational Assistant to support Pre-K students. This 0.50 FTE position runs immediately through June 25, 2027, with a schedule: Mon/Wed 8:18–3:13 and alternating Fridays 8:18–12:05.

You will assist with instruction, behavior support, and inclusive learning in a dynamic school environment. The ideal candidate is patient, collaborative, and committed to student success, with a high school diploma and experience with children.

Contract Type: Term 0.50 FTE; Part Time (approximately 15 hours per week)

• Monday & Wednesday: 8:18 AM to 3:13 PM
• Alternating Friday's: 8:18 AM to 12:05 PM (Staff will be required to stay longer when training is being held)*

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Bassano School is seeking applications for a Pre-K Educational Assistant (EA)to support Pre-K level students in their learning and development.

This is a part-time, term position beginnings immediately and end on June 25, 2027.

Job Duties:

• support students with instruction and learning activities, as well as their physical, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• encourage positive and respectful interactions between students and staff;
• work closely and collaboratively with classroom teachers , school administration, and other members of the school team.
• Provide appropriate physical support and personal care, including lifting and transferring students, as required.
• Support students in participating in school activities , which may include swimming, outdoor sports, and other school-based activities.

• Strong written, verbal, and reading communication skills.
• The ability to support students across subject areas appropriate to their grade level .
• The ability to support students with literacy and numeracy development .

• A genuine interest in working with elementary-aged students, including Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students.

Education and Certifications:

• High school diploma.
• Experience working with children or other vulnerable populations in an educational, healthcare, or related setting.

Considered an asset but not a requirement:

• Post-secondary training in education, Educational Assistant, child development, or a related field
• Two or more years of experience working with children or in an education setting.

*A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

• A Current Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
• The original document is required to be submitted, and reported within thelast 6 monthsof hire date.
