Job summary

Grasslands Public Schools is seeking a Mainstream Educational Assistant at Brooks Composite High School to support high school students in learning, development, and preparation for success in grades 10-12. This is a full-time term position beginning immediately and ending on June 29, 2027.

The EA will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and the school team to address learning needs, provide personal care when required, and help maintain a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience with children in educational/healthcare settings.
• Ability to support literacy and numeracy development and adapt to student needs.
• Strong communication, patience, and teamwork to work with teachers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support students with instruction and learning activities.

• Monday to Thursday: 8:40 AM to 3:37 PM
• Fridays: 8:40 AM to 11:58 PM (Staff will be required to stay longer when training is being held)*

ABOUT THE POSITION: Brooks Composite High School is seeking applications for a Mainstream Educational Assistant (EA) to support high school students in their learning, development, and preparation for success in the grades ahead.

This is a full-time, term position beginning immediately, and ending on June 29, 2027.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Brooks Composite High School is located in the city of Brooks, Alberta. The city has a population of approximately 14,000 people is located In South Eastern Alberta along the Trans-Canada Highway between Calgary and Medicine Hat. BCHS is a high school of about 620 students in grades 10-12. We offer a full range of all the academic offerings in addition to a well respected vocational program that includes Mechanics, Construction, Cosmetology, Foods and Digital Media. We also offer a fine arts program that includes visual arts and performing arts including Music and Drama. In addition, we are pleased to host the district Inclusive Education Program and have a large ELL program that serves the needs of many newcomers to Canada. We are also very proud of the athletic and extracurricular programs at our school. Job Duties:

• support students with instruction and learning activities, as well as their physical, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Education and Certifications:

• High school diploma.
• Experience working with children or other vulnerable populations in an educational, healthcare, or related setting.

Considered an asset but not a requirement:

• Post-secondary training in education, Educational Assistant, child development, or a related field
• Two or more years of experience working with children or in an education setting.

*A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
