Job summary

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board invites applications for an Educational Assistant 50% term (17.5 hours/week). Working under the principal, the EA provides direct support to students with exceptional needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities, in collaboration with teachers and other staff.

Qualifications

• Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of related experience with school-aged children with special needs.
• First Aid/CPR Level C is an asset; training in TCI and/or BMS is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support students with exceptional needs under the Principal's direction.
• Modify programs to support learning for students with learning disabilities or speech/language issues.
• Assist with pool programs, physiotherapy exercises, and support for deaf/hard-of-hearing or visually impaired students.
• Handle outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties when required.
