A public education institution in Ontario is seeking a temporary Educational Assistant to support students, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Candidates must have relevant education, BMS training, and excellent interpersonal skills. This physically demanding role involves assisting students with various needs and creating a supportive environment. The position includes additional annual compensation and participation in the OMERS Pension Plan.

Educational Assistants support students in achieving success across academic, behavioral, social, life skills, and co-op situations. Working within a multidisciplinary team, they contribute to student development and integration by creating a safe and supportive environment.
These positions can be physically demanding, including assisting students with toileting, diapering, feeding, lifting, transferring, positioning, and mobility. Positions may involve rotating through various school locations and grade levels to meet student needs.
Applicants must have a relevant university degree or a two-year college diploma in human services (e.g., Behavioural Sciences related to ABA, Child and Youth Worker, Child Care Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Early Childhood Education, Educational Assistant Special Needs Support, Human Services Administration, Registered Nurse, Sign Language Communicator/Interpreter, Social Service Worker, or Ontario Teaching Certificate). Most positions also require Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training, along with excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

Required: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) County Class. BMS training is mandatory. Experience working with students with ASD is preferred. The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to implement behavior management plans, wear PPE, and perform toileting and lifting tasks. Experience with data tracking and positive reinforcement techniques is an asset.
This position will include an additional annual compensation of $2,442.10, pro-rated to the FTE. Candidates accepting this role must be committed to the position.
Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time employees, even those currently receiving an OMERS pension.
