Located in Arrowwood and supporting students from Kindergarten to Grade 9, Arrowwood Community School invites enthusiastic individuals to apply for the permanent, part-time Educational Assistant position starting May 30, 2025. This role involves working with inclusive education and FNMI students. The school continually analyzes accountability and achievement results to support effective student programming.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary or vocational certificate in child care/development or behaviour management, with practicum experience working with students with special needs
  • Equivalent combinations of related education and experience may be considered
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificates (Child CPR is a strong asset)
Responsibilities

  • Provide educational instruction and support students in accessing technology
  • Contribute to planning Individual Program Plans (IPP) and participate in team meetings with students, parents/guardians to review and revise goals
  • Collect data to support student growth and IPP development
  • Maintain effective relationships within the student’s learning team, offering suggestions based on experience to help students reach their goals
  • Communicate with parents and team members regarding student progress
  • Encourage development of self-esteem and independence through tailored programs and techniques
  • Promote positive interactions among students
  • Provide personal care as needed, including toileting, feeding, dressing, and grooming, ensuring dignity and safety
  • Ensure student safety within the school and community, supervise students, sanitize equipment, and assist with physical needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate patience, support, and enthusiasm
  • Work collaboratively with the student’s learning team and assist in supervising students during breaks and field trips
  • Assist with classroom cleanup and sanitization of educational tools
  • Perform other related duties as required
