Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Development, the Education & Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the delivery of all courses (virtual & in-person) for ECA members & stakeholders. The role also includes overseeing career pathways initiatives, such as Tools for Schools, Teachers Convention, Skills, and related programs. Additionally, the Coordinator supports workforce development initiatives, including job fairs and other related events.

This is a term position lasting 12 to 18 months, offering competitive benefits, including health coverage and paid time off.

Duties and Responsibilities

Education:

  • Oversee the planning and documentation of each course. Post all course opportunities on the ECA website through GrowthZone.
  • Manage the execution of various courses offered by the ECA, including setting up classroom rentals/online registration through Zoom, overseeing catering and lunch accommodations (when needed), and supporting instructors throughout the course.
  • Answer calls and emails with member/non-member inquiries regarding course offerings.
  • Communicate in a timely manner with instructors and students on registration and scheduling.
  • Execute strong relationship building skills through efficient follow-up and feedback review of each course with attendees and instructors.
  • Ensure each classroom is prepared with proper equipment for occasional in-person courses (technology, flipcharts, boards etc.).
  • Create and distribute applicable course completion certificates to students/attendees through Growth Zone certificate tracking system.
  • Work alongside Marketing team to promote course offerings, including a quarterly education newsletter.
  • Create and coordinate budgets for courses (with support from the Director of Corporate Development).
  • Assist members and non-members with earning gold seal credits and confirming readiness.
  • Formulate growth strategies for larger education items that are coordinated, marketed and hosted at the ECA (DPD, CLI, ELI, PMP, etc.).
  • Manage room rentals within the ECA building.
  • Monitor other LCAs for course offerings and engage with peer coordinators on new offerings.
  • Regularly meet with LCAs across AB and BC, to ensure alignment of course offerings and workforce initiatives.
  • Conduct yearly evaluations of course offerings and pricing structure.
  • Manage the Career Pathways initiative, which includes but is not limited to:
  • Plan, organize and execute all aspects of Tools for Schools.
  • Maintain relationships with education partners and find opportunities to collaborate.
  • Develop and coordinate various workforce initiatives through educational partners (Skills Alberta, Honour the Work, JA).
  • Meet with, plan, and execute all initiatives set out by the career pathways committee.
  • Monitor and maintain a budget for all career pathways initiatives.
  • Provide update on career pathways initiatives to be included in board reporting.
  • Engage ECA membership to find volunteers for events.
  • Support all workforce development initiatives, including:
  • All newcomers job fairs and related events.
  • Any teacher gatherings, including tours and related initiatives.
  • Support any suggested events.

Direct Reports:

The Education & Workforce Development Coordinator is a motivated member of the ECA. The position has no direct reports.

Tools & Systems:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and uses software including the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel), MailChimp, Zoom Meetings, and the organization’s internal CRM software (GrowthZone).

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of customer service and/or event management experience.
  • A university degree or diploma in education, construction management, or business management would be considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized individual with an exceptional attention to detail.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • A self-starter with an outgoing nature.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities under tight timelines.
