Job description
Participant Services and Admissions

  • Learn individual participant programs; consult with supervisor or other staff to clarify questions and/or better understand program.
  • Supervise participants according to documented Levels of Supervision.
  • Assist in implementing programs for assigned participants; maintain contact with participants at all times; observe behavior; assist in providing feedback to participants; inform supervisors and other staff about participant issues.
  • Assist in training and/or assisting participants with activities of daily living.
  • Assist in counseling participants to improve cognitive skills.
  • Assist in counseling participants to develop social skills.
  • Assist participants with exercise, sports activities and work projects designed to improve physical endurance; teach techniques, demonstrate motions, manipulate body and/or limbs as necessary.
  • Assist participants who need assistance with standing, sitting, walking, etc.; lift and/or physically support participants when necessary.
  • Assist in recording daily observations of participant activities, physical condition, accomplishments, etc.
  • Assist in preparing required reports.
  • Share information with supervisors and staff in meetings; provide observations to aid in determining and improving participant progress.
  • Accompany participants off-premises.
  • Assist with self-administration of medications following certification of competency to assist with self-administration of medication.
  • Attend work as scheduled and on time as per company policy.
Human Resources Management

  • Participate in an ongoing education/training program as directed by supervisors.
  • Complete required checklists, quizzes and training related documentation.
Customer Service

  • Use correct telephone answering protocol.
  • Meet and greet program visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
Accounting and Financial

  • Follow procedures regarding petty cash and receipts.
  • Follow procedures regarding use of time sheets.
Accreditation/Licensing

  • Maintain good public relations with visitors from contracting/licensing/accrediting agencies.
Building and Fleet Management

  • Report needed repairs to appropriate supervisor.
Risk Management

  • Work in safe work practices and comply with all safety policies and procedures as established by the facility or as prescribed by the OHSA and Regulations.
  • Attend mandatory safety training as required by the Company.
  • Use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required; and promptly report workplace health and safety accidents, incidents, deficiencies, hazards, unsafe conditions, and contravention(s) of the OHSA or its Regulations to their supervisor or employer.
  • Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the Regulations or by ResCare or ResCare Premier, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately.
  • Not use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger himself, herself or any other worker or person.
  • Not engage in a prank or horseplay that may endanger oneself, any other worker or person.

Qualifications

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; further study preferred. Stable, verifiable job history required; related experience and/or training preferred.
Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to convey simple, clear information to participants.
Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS And OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid state or provincial driver's license valid for passenger cars or vans and an acceptable driving record.
  • Insurable under company liability and auto insurance coverages.
  • Acceptable criminal history.
  • Clean drug and alcohol screen at hire - United State employees only.
  • Clean drug and alcohol screen at probable cause; including, all work-related injuries, motor vehicle accidents, missing controlled substance at worked locations, etc. - United State employees only.
  • Clean drug and alcohol screen randomly conducted as determined necessary by the company - United State employees only.
