Job summary

Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga is seeking an Education Consultant to coordinate undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programs, report to the Education Office, and liaise with University of Toronto and clinical staff. Responsibilities

  • Assists in the planning, development and implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programs

  • Coordinates administrative operations of the Simulation Program including scheduling, logistics and equipment preparation

Job Purpose And Summary

This position reports to the Manager, Education and works in conjunction with the Education Office, Physician Education Leadership, faculty physicians, external stakeholders, and students/trainees to support the coordination of education at Trillium Health Partners. This role has overall accountability for the administrative coordination of education within the assigned programs and acts as the primary contact for professional staff, staff, learners and the University of Toronto (as required) on all matters related to the coordination and facilitation of education within the program. In addition, the role will also be accountable for scheduling services, registration and orientation of learners onboarded into the clinical program as applicable.

This is a full-time temporary contract role for 1 year to cover a maternity leave. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week at one of our main office locations (Credit Valley Hospital or 89 Queensway West).

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assists in the planning, development and implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programs;
  • Plans for and leads onboarding of all clerks and postgraduate learners, including (but not limited to) registration, orientation, seminar coordination and data management (when applicable);
  • Manages all schedule development for clerks and postgraduate learners (when applicable) including seminars, electives and selectives for assigned programs, in partnership with University of Toronto course directors and physician education leads;
  • In collaboration with other Education Office team members, helps coordinate the administrative operations of the Simulation Program at THP including scheduling and booking of simulation activities, coordinating logistics and procurement of equipment, preparation of simulation spaces and equipment to support session delivery and serves as one of the primary simulation contacts for faculty, learners, and THP staff.
  • Supports physician engagement and relationship management across assigned programs;
  • Manages issues and risks and works in conjunction with Education Leadership to develop mitigation strategies;
  • Supports program operational activities such as preparing preceptor payments and medical trainee data submission;
  • Provides direction and support to program leadership and faculty physicians in the hospital faculty appointment process;
  • Leads the development of presentations, program plans, evaluations and other materials relevant to assigned programs;
  • Assists in the contract renewal process for physician education leads within hospital programs;
  • Works in conjunction with Education Leadership to support process improvements across programs;
  • Assists in the coordination, planning and administrative implementation of curriculum changes as required;
    • Including support for Foundations (physician engagement and processes), observerships/Enriching Education Experiences, and interprofessional education as required;
  • Provides project management and special event support to contribute to the attainment of program initiatives;
  • Assists in the development of medical education policies and procedures as required;
  • Works with other Education Office staff to ensure coordination and alignment across all clinical/clinical support programs involved in medical education;
  • Supports the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) process when applicable;
  • Supports annual and/or recurring education initiatives, such as the annual Better Together Awards;
  • Assists in the coordination of Faculty Development initiatives to support program needs;
  • Supports key internal and external stakeholder engagement, including clinical program leadership, Professional Practice, Medical Administration, the University of Toronto and Mississauga Academy of Medicine, and other relevant external stakeholders;
  • Travel between all three sites of Trillium Health Partners is required;
  • Regular full time position, with flexibility to work outside of regular business hours to meet stakeholder needs as necessary.
