Job description
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

Under the Assistant Director of Complementary Services, the Education Consultant will work in close collaboration with professionals, support staff and teachers, in the development of training programs, tools and material for Special Education Technicians for increased efficacy in support towards our students with exceptional needs.

  • Develop and implement training programs to be given in person and remotely to Special Education Technicians, Teachers and Education Consultants within the Board;
  • On‑going development and implementation of material for the use of students with special needs;
  • Assist in the development, understanding and implementation of students IEP's;
  • Support and provide tools to support staff on how to assist students with emotional and/or behavioural problems;
  • Visit, observe and work in classrooms to ensure optimised student support;
  • On‑going development of culturally appropriate tools and remedial material;
  • Assist in the development and optimisation of Special Education Technicians working schedules;
  • Collaborate with schools Special Education committee meetings;
  • Maintain communication with all Special Education local teams;
  • Support the implementation of recommendations for the integration of students with exceptional needs into schools, working collaboratively with external partners and agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid teaching diploma in the province of Quebec;
  • Minimum Five (5) year's experience of working with children with exceptional needs.
  • Minimum Five (5) year's experience of working in Nunavik.
  • Maturity, ability to work independently,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with youth and adults.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore‑mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Fluency in written and spoken in two (2) of the school boards three (3) official languages; Inuktitut, French and/or English.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and remedial tools in Inuktitut.
  • Available to travel frequently in Nunavik.
  • Experience working with the MS Suits.
CLASSIFICATION/ SALARY/ BENEFITS

In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $49,456 to $92,027 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
