Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Appropriate post secondary training (e.g. Special Education Assistant Program or a related diploma).
• Experience with students with diverse abilities or disability.

Responsibilities

• Participate in IEPs, school team meetings and parent meetings as needed.
• Follow all student safety plans.
• Provide instructional and behavior support and record keeping.
• Assist in adapting classroom materials.
• Support student independence with accommodations to access curriculum.
• May assist with medical, occupational, physical and speech programs as prescribed.
• Supervise students on school outings when required.
• Assist in developing community work placements for students with identified needs.
• Assist students with personal care needs per health professionals.
