Position Overview

This position involves specialized work supporting students with diverse needs, including physical, mental, behavioral, emotional, or learning differences. The role requires providing assistance tailored to individual student needs, potentially including specialized skills for students with visual or hearing impairments, health issues, or behavioral challenges. The work demands initiative, emotional stability, empathy, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist students with personal care, educational, and developmental needs.
  • Implement individual education and care plans.
  • Administer medications and basic first aid as required.
  • Monitor and adapt to students' varying needs.
  • Maintain effective relationships with students and staff.
  • Perform record-keeping tasks, including data collection and monitoring.
  • Physically assist students with special needs, requiring strength and agility.
Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, plus basic first aid.
  • Special Education Teaching Assistant certificate or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years of related experience working with children or young adults with special needs is preferred.
  • Additional training in psychiatric nursing, practical nursing, or child care is an asset.
Additional Information
