Job Summary
The Department of Diagnostic Radiology is committed to pursuing excellence in education, serving and engaging society and research, all while fostering a supportive and collegial environment. Reporting to the Education Leader, the Education Assistant is responsible for administratively supporting the Department of Diagnostic Radiology’s postgraduate and undergraduate teaching programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the administrative details related to the day-to-day functioning of the undergraduate and residency training programs; act as main point of contact for the department’s Education Office.
- Prepare for program meetings, including working with chairs to prepare all required documentation; act as recording secretary; coordinate and provide follow-up support to program directors and committee members as required.
- Coordinate the residency admission process for the Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine programs.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the departmental, faculty and national professional association policies, procedures and program requirements.
- Organize, develop and generate rotation and teaching schedules; manage the curriculum, rotation and evaluation schedule on One45 scheduling software system as well as on department SharePoint site.
- Consult with the Education Leader, Program Directors and Postgraduate Dean’s Office on appropriate action to be taken for resident’s encountering serious problems with rotations or academic standing, long term illness, and requests for radical changes to rotation schedule.
Note
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications
- Business/ Administrative Professional program with approximately five years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple overlapping deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Assets
- Experience working in an academic health care environment.
- Knowledge of hospital information systems and One45.
- Experience in medical education and Royal College policies and procedures, including knowledge of the Royal College’s Competency by Design ( CBD ) format of residency training.
- Undergraduate degree.
