Job summary

Keewatin-Patricia District School Board (KPDSB) invites applications for an Education Assistant at Ear Falls Public School. This part-time (.50 FTE) position supports students in a special program, prepares instructional materials, and records progress.

Occasional medically necessary interventions may be required under supervision. Basic qualifications include an Ontario High School Diploma or equivalent, with preferred credentials such as a Teacher Aide Diploma or related certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Diploma/Certificate programs as listed (Teacher Aide, Child Care Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Children's Services, Early Childhood Education, Ontario Teacher Certification) or equivalent.

Position Summary

You will assist designated students with activities of a special program, planning and preparing materials and activities, providing observation and assessment data, record keeping, care and assistance, medically necessary interventions (i.e. catheterization, suctioning), and other related duties as may be assigned by the Principal or to work under the direction of the school Principal and classroom teacher, assisting the teacher with activities and such other related duties as may be assigned by the Principal.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbent works in a classroom environment with frequent interruptions and varying noise levels. Moderate physical effort normally required including routine walking, sitting or standing. Occasional heavy effort may be required in lifting, transporting, toileting or restraining students. Constant hearing/speech communication is necessary as is frequent visual concentration. Fine motor activities are required i.e. keyboarding, scribing, etc.

Qualifications

You have an Ontario High School Diploma or equivalent, as well as one of the following: Diploma in Teacher Aide Program, Child Care Worker Program, Developmental Services Worker Program, Children's Services Program, Early Childhood Education Program, Ontario Teacher Certification, or an equivalent diploma or certificate program as determined by the Board. Behaviour Management System (BMS) training is preferred. Placement in this position will be for the 2026/2027 school year only and is subject to the following: the continued attendance of the pupil(s) involved, the continued need for an assistant, and any program changes deemed necessary by the Board. The Board reserves the right to assign personnel to positions. This position will require a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) at the employee’s expense.
