Job Summary

Castalia Systems is currently searching for an eDiscovery SME Specialist whose qualifications and/or expertise are exceptional and/or highly specialized or unique; and are typically identified as recognized industry leaders: and typically initiates, supervises, and/or develops requirements from a project’s inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs; and provides strategic and expert advice and technical guidance, to program and project staff. This individual also provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues; and consults with client to define needs or challenges; while also supervising studies: leading surveys and performing data collection for analyses used to advise and recommend/suggest solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Experience using COTS e-Discovery software to process and load, review and analyze data around litigation, investigations, and create export/productions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/PowerApps, Adobe Acrobat and document/discovery applications.
  • Must be proficient in a wide range of technologies and be knowledgeable as to eDiscovery industry “best practices” including an understanding of multiple tools and processes associated with large scale complex eDiscovery response.
  • Oversees data processing, ensures compliance with ESI standards, and manages large datasets using tools like Relativity, Nuix, and SQL.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of thirteen (13) to twenty (20) years’ relevant experience. A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred. four additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree is required. If the individual’s degree is not in the applicable field then four additional years of related experience is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of eDiscovery/litigation support.
  • Experience with eDiscovery services spanning across the EDRM (File to Trial).
  • Prior knowledge and experience managing eDiscovery projects and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to train on Veritas and Microsoft eDiscovery including data management, constructing search queries, processing, production, and quality control.
  • Supports legal teams with data collection, review workflows, and litigation databases. Familiarity with platforms like Casepoint, Everlaw, and Relativity is key.
  • Advanced experience planning eDiscovery efforts, managing client expectations, and working with clients to meet deadlines.
  • Independently work on requests from a queue/assignment, to ensure immediate turnaround times.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with both eDiscovery technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Must have proven ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining tight deadline priorities.
  • Must work as a team with multiple vendors to provide on-time deliverables.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational and planning skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Certified eDiscovery Specialist (CEDS) and/or Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) is a plus.
  • Experience working on a Federal Contract.
  • Paralegal Certificate.
  • Exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a plus.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Remote in the areas of Morrisville, NC or Falls Church, VA with possibility that some onsite work may be needed.
