HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The EDI and Reconciliation Lead supports efforts to reduce health disparities by working collaboratively with staff, physicians, patients, families, and community partners, to advance the quality, safety and experience of patient care and service with an equity lens. This involves supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of structures, processes and policies designed to advance health equity in the domains of access to care, patient experience and health outcomes. The EDI and Reconciliation Lead plays a critical role in helping to identify disparities in health care access, service provision, satisfaction, and outcomes. This includes engagement with internal and external partners to develop and promote innovative mechanisms for care and service design and delivery. The EDI and Reconciliation Lead supports the integration of health equity lens and EDI principles throughout the organization through engagement and tailored interventions. Combining expertise in equity, diversity, inclusion, and principles of people-centered care, the EDI and Reconciliation Lead’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, strategy development, staff and physician education, policy development, Patient and Family Partner recruitment, EDI and Reconciliation Committee support, and data selection, collection, and analysis.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field including, but not limited to Social Work/Social Services, Health Promotion, Health Administration or a registered healthcare professional or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • Formal training (certification preferred) in improvement methodologies (Quality Improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, Change Management, Process Improvement, Project Management), leadership
  • Project management as an asset

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Three (3) to five (5) five years recent related experience in healthcare environment, program evaluation, program management and work with equity seeking populations including experience with public and/or population change initiatives, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of EDI, Health Equity, Reconciliation, to the social determinants of health, and to the health of the public and various populations
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and with changing priorities and deadlines
  • A demonstrated passion for advancing healthcare within the context of a system-wide strategy and the broader challenges of changing healthcare policies and culture using a health equity lens
  • A people-centred, results-oriented style that encourages empowerment and collaboration
  • Demonstrated mentorship skills including inspiring and motivating staff to achieve outcomes and functioning effectively with tact and diplomacy while handling stressful issues
  • Effective communication skills including listening, presenting, articulating conveyance of messages in an honest, open, transparent style; strong writing skills with experience in writing strategy and program reports
  • Strong facilitation skills. Comfortable with the development and delivery of presentations focused on EDI topics
  • Experience with performance measurement, data reporting and analysis
  • Demonstrated facilitation, team building and coordination skills to achieve the successful implementation of change initiatives
  • Proven leadership skills and an ability to inspire colleagues to engage in health equity improvements and build a culture of continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work autonomously, oversee multiple competing projects, and work collaboratively within an interprofessional team environment

  • Broad knowledge of public health policies, procedures, regulations, and legislative environment
  • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in health care
  • Knowledge of Accreditation Canada Standards, Required Organizational Practices, and experience leading teams in preparation for surveys
  • Experience with waste reduction, standardized work, value-stream mapping, just in time production, 5s, inventory reduction, etc.
  • Advanced process analysis and design expertise
