What You’ll Do

  1. Transcribe medical dictation, including correspondence and reports for Court, Review Board, and clinical reports, notes, and correspondence, using methods such as typing from Dictaphone or handwritten notes, editing for accuracy, and forwarding completed documents to designated team members and outside agencies. Enter data into logs for tracking.
  2. Provide reception services: operate multi-line switchboard, respond to inquiries, relay messages, greet visitors, and direct clients and visitors appropriately. Document client requests and information in files.
  3. Process referrals and enter client data into computer systems, ensuring documentation is complete, identifying and correcting errors, and notifying referral sources of deficiencies.
  4. Maintain client charts: receive documentation, create and organize clinical records, ensure accuracy and completeness, and coordinate off-site storage and retrieval.
  5. Maintain schedules: review electronic calendars, monitor deadlines and appointments, and provide reminders to staff.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, with training in medical transcription and one year of recent related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples, with a commitment to anti-racism and cultural safety.
  • Understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous rights and health equity, including TRC Calls to Action, UNDRIP, and related policies.

  • Understanding of Indigenous-specific and systemic racism; ability to foster an environment of respect and belonging; commitment to ongoing cultural safety training and patient-centered care.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Typing speed of 60 wpm.

Wage: $28.01/hour plus applicable security premiums

Location: 795 Highway 16 East, Prince George, BC

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
