The Field Engineer, under direct supervision, serves as a team member associated with project support with a focus on supporting field operations. The Field Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of the project by supporting the execution of complex tasks in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a collaborative and supportive environment for team members. This position will be based out of our Project office located in South Edmonton.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  2. Perform quality inspection for temporary and permanent materials, develop and comply with ITPs, issue NCR for delivered materials and ensure remedy action is taken to close all NCR in a timely manner, ensure compliance with company quality requirements and standards and assist with project turnover.
  3. In coordination with project leadership, assist with coordination of activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  4. Assist superintendent in their daily operation, ensuring delivery of all materials as per operation schedule, generate and issue daily reports, track and report any internal or external delays onsite, ensuring operation have all the required permits, construction plans, and most up-to-date revision of site-specific safety plans and emergency response plan.
  5. Perform an environmental inspection as per the guidelines highlighted in the approved project environmental plan.
  6. Identify purchasing needs and initiate the purchase requisition process.
  7. Participate in the development of Hazard Analysis, subsequent toolbox meetings, and work plans and packages to enable work to be executed efficiently.
  8. Provide planning, reporting, and forecasting support to project leadership.
  9. Track permanent materials and bulk commodities per established procedure.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

  1. 2-5 years of related construction experience with a contractor; Tunneling, Trenchless, or heavy civil construction.
  2. Bachelor’s degree, or engineering technologist in Civil or Mining Engineering.
  3. Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with: Primavera, Microsoft Project, Blue Beam, Sharepoint.
